The high seismic areas may be susceptible to the severe damage in structures. In the seismic design shear walls act as major earthquake resisting members. Now a day, shear wall in R.C. structure are most popular system to resist lateral load due to earthquake, wind, blast etc. Positioning of shear wall has influence on the overall behavior of the building. For effective and efficient performance of building it is essential to position shear wall in an ideal location. Story drift and lateral displacements are the critical issues in seismic design of buildings. This paper presents the response of building with different positioning of shear wall by Equivalent Static Method using IS 1893 (PART – I): 2002. Six different Model of G+8 RCC building, one with no shear wall and other five models with different position of shear wall which is subjected to earthquake load in zone V has been studied. Varanasi is an oldest living city of world situated at the bank of holy river Ganga. As per 2011 census, 56.56% population of Varanasi districts lives in rural areas. The sustainable development of these villages is the prime factor towards the economic growth of the nation. The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) is a landmark legislation of Government of India in this direction. The primary objective of the MNREGA is to strengthen the rural livelihood by creating durable assets and by providing employment of 100 days in a financial year to the villagers as an unskilled manual worker. The present paper is an attempt to evaluate the significance of MNREGA in improving rural sanitation status of Varanasi District of Uttar Pradesh. Data collected from the web site of MNREGA. The trend analysis of database was performed on year to year basis with percentage increase or decrease in the completion of rural sanitation work in each block of Varanasi District. The study reveled that out of total 8390 sanitation works completed in Varanasi District during 2012-2017. The rate of works completion was found higher (66.41%) in financial year 2013-14. Two blocks of Varanasi district i.e. Harahua and Baragaon shown above 50% works completion. These sanitation works accelerated the sanitation coverage in rural areas through providing privacy and dignity particularly to women. Therefore it can be concluded that MNREGA can be an important step towards development of open defecation free rural India in addition to poverty alleviation.Keywords: Sustainable development, Landmark legislation, Trend analysis, Sanitation, Open defecation.

The progress of India is largely dependent on the development of people in rural areas. There are 6,40,867 rural units and 68.84% of population lives in Rural India. The Government of India has allocated a budget of Rs.105448 crore during 2017-18 for rural development program. Rural development is a process of improving the quality of life and economic well being of people living in rural areas. In addition to the government efforts the involvement of NGO’s and educational institutes play an instrumental role in rural development. Rural Immersion is an initiative by School of Management Studies and Research designed and implemented in MBA curriculum to provide an experiential learning for the students with the objective of addressing the problems in rural areas. The paper highlights on effectuation principles applied in the process of women empowerment carried out at Budarsingi by utilizing the existing skill sets of women. With growing population and urbanization to provide the safe and efficient traffic is a challenging task to the transportation engineering. To estimate the traffic at signalized / un-signalized intersection the base saturation flow rate play vital role. The base saturation flow rate was measured and analyzed to provide the smooth traffic flow rate at Hyderabad, for four intersection approaches. The objective of the study is to estimate and develop the affecting parameter of base saturation flow rate for various approaches in the Hyderabad city. Form the obtained base saturation flow rate, the capacity of the signalized intersection was determined. The study result was concluded that the maximum base saturation flow rate found at L. B nagar and also the minimum base saturation flow rate at tarnaka. It’s also indicated that the parameter affects the base saturation flow rate at various approaches and its factors values were described.Keywords: saturation flow rate, adjustment factors, traffic, signalized intersection.
The hypoglycaemic activities of three ethanolic extracts prepared from leave of Orthosiphon aristatus (Blume) Miq., Andrographis paniculata (Nees) and bark of Azadirachta indica (A.Juss) were investigated in this study. According to preliminary phytochemical examination, the three plants showed the absence of cyanogenic glycosides and the presence of antibiotic potential of constituents. In vitro and vivo toxicity test, these selected plants were potentially safe for medicinal use. Among these three extracts, O. aristatus showed the most significant reduction in fasting blood glucose (FBG) levels on tested mice according to the results from hypoglycaemic activity. But A.indica extracts could not be lowers the fasting blood glucose levels significantly. The extracts of O. aristatus and A. paniculata were further fractionated by trituration method into three solvent portions. Aerosol optical depth (AOD) measurement done with MICROTOPS II Sunphotometer carried out East Indian region Kharagpur (KGP) one year duration data collected every hourly in day time (jun2013-may2014) for the source region identification. The seasonal comparison shown that high AOD shown in the summer (April, May) with higher AOD (0.75 ± 0.12) and low AOD in Monsoon (0.50 ± 0.18) (June, July, August, September).other seasons are Twinter, winter, NE monsoon, Tsummer AOD values will be (0.57 ± 0.23), (0.67 ± 0.16), (0.63 ± 0.16), (0.69 ± 0.16), respectively. The second objective is the concentrated weighted trajectories (CWT) analysis to potential source regions based on the 7-day back trajectory calculation from HYSPLIT model at the surface level and elevated level trajectories considered. this study we observed that the central India is the source region for monsoon season at surface level trajectories the winter season follows the IGP is source region and the summer has the two paths of sources were one is from IGP and coastal region.
