Rise in literacy creates a pool of candidates with different competencies. Modern organisations are facing many challenges to employ the right person at the proper place. Since organisations have specific positions and they require specific skills in the employees, the concept of recruiting a competent workforce may become a prominent subject in the context of recruitment. On the other hand, in todays’ scenario having a competent workforce is organisational strength at strategic point of view.
Present paper is an attempt to provide an aid to recruiters by recruitment of competent workforce through developing a competency map for each of the positions. To achieve the objectives, the researchers have collected secondary data from various national and international journals, published reports, books, newspaper articles and websites of the organisations where competency based recruitment is followed. Researcher has applied relevant statistical tools and qualitative tools to analyse the gathered data. Keywords: Competency based recruitment, competent workforce, Competency map and Competency mapping etc.
In this study, effective atomic numbers (Zeff) and effective electron density (Neff) of inorganic nonlinear optical (NLO) materials such as Bab2O4 and LiNbO3 have been calculated and compared with the values obtained from the WinXCOM program in the energy range 356 keV to 1330 keV. It is observed that there is a good agreement between theoretical and experimental values. From the present work, it is observed that the variation of obtained values of all parameters strongly depends on the photon energy; it decreases or increases due to chemical composition and density of the sample. These samples have been studied extensively using transmission method with a view to utilize the material for radiation dosimetry. Effective atomic numbers (Zeff) and effective electron density (Neff) of two samples have been carried out and transmission curves have been plotted. The transmission curve shows the variation of two sample materials decreases with increasing photon energy. The results of this present study can be useful in diagnostic imaging, radiation dosimetry, and other technological applications. Keywords: Effective atomic number and effective electron density.
The response of germinatin defective spores in germination pathways with and without germinant were studied on Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE) to explore the involvement of particular protein, which might have key role to enable the germination defective spores to germinate. The protein profile in core, cortex and coat of germinating spores in specific systems L-alanine(ALA system) and a combination of L-ala, glucose, fructose and potassium(AGFK system) along with and without germinant (alanine) was analyzed periodically. Gd160 strain use alanine as germinant in ALA system. Germinating spores of G160 showed the de novo synthesis of polypeptides with molecular weight of 53.5, 51.5, 47.8, 46 and 33.8 kDa in ALA system with alanine. While inhibition of 66, 65, 61, 31, 23 and 21 kDa was recorded. Germinating spores of Gd27 showed the synthesis of new proteins with molecular weight 61.8 (at initial stages of germination), 57.8, 56.5, 55, 53.2, 50.5, 48 and 47 kDa within 24 hours. While some proteins were inhibited such as 66, 56, 54.5, 46, 31, 15 and 12 kDa in AGFK system with alanine. In brief addition of or deletion of some proteins or even change in protein processing effects the sporulation process which directly or indirectly alter the germination responses. It exhibited a great variety, which indicate the involvement of different mechanisms in these strains. Keywords: ALA system, AGFK system, Bacillus spore, Alanine, Germination.
This paper studies the implications for implementation of Import parity pricing for Petroleum products in India. The study analysed the impact of hike in crude oil price and its impact on inflation and exchange rate of Indian rupee in two analytical periods 1970-77 and 2002-06 respectively, where import parity pricing regime was in implementation. The study also analysed the inelastic nature of demand for crude oil and the hysteria of exogenous factors and volatility. The findings of the study will certainly contribute to the oil importing countries in their petroleum pricing policy and to reduce the impact of hike in petrol price on common man with a decisive pricing policy. Keywords: Import parity pricing, oil price shocks, exchange rate, CPI inflation, elasticity in oil prices, natural gas pricing.
The global challenges that necessitated the setting of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) identified priorities areas to be addressed within 15 years starting from Year 2000. Upon reaching the endpoint year, stocks of progress were taken to fashion out a way forward on how to consolidate on the gains of MDGs. This led to the idea of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This paper explored key areas of urban planning concerns in the MDG and SDG and identify possible collaboration efforts of urban planners and other stakeholders in Nigeria for the success of the SDG. Specifically, literature was reviewed on the global efforts of goal 7 of the MDG and areas of goal 11 of the SDG requiring urban planning intervention and collaboration. Findings show that other than robust policy framework, Nigeria still lag behind even within the scope of Africa in the attainment of these goals and their associated targets. The synergy between urban planners in public service, community and non-governmental organisations/development agencies, the organised private sector, and professional bodies has been explored as a key contrivance to a successful implementation of the SDGs.Keywords: Synergy, Urban Planning, Sustainable Development Goals.
